Mompha released drops N5m lawsuit

Nigerian Instagram big boy, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, has regained freedom and drops N5m lawsuit against the EFCC

Recall that Mompha was re-arrested on August 14 when he went to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission office in Ikoyi, Lagos to reclaim his belongings that were seized from him by the anti-graft agency last year.

The socialite who is responding to N32bn fraud charges before the Federal High Court in Lagos was released on Wednesday-about two weeks after the anti-graft agency re-arrested him.

His visit to the EFCC office followed a ruling of 24 July by Justice Mohammed Liman ordering that the items be released to him.

However, EFCC stated that Mompha ‘s re-arrest was justified because it was linked to a fresh set of cyber fraud which had nothing to do with the earlier money laundering charges he had been charged with.

Mompha, through his lawyer Mr. Gbenga Oyewole insisted that his re-arrest against the EFCC was unlawful and slammed a N5 million lawsuit.

On Wednesday, his lawyer Oyewole confirmed that Mompha had withdrawn the N5 million basic rights suit he filed against the anti-graft agency.

He also said Mompha’s been released on bail.
