Without even walking on the court Saturday night, Klay Thompson dunked on Detroit Pistons reserve Rodney McGruder
McGruder was seen charging over to the Warriors’ tunnel just moments after the Warriors beat the Pistons 118-91 at Chase Center, and had to be held back by Detroit’s personnel.
On the Golden State show, Thompson, who was miked up, did not understand why McGruder was upset and joked that the Kansas State alum was probably heated.
“This dude might be out of the league soon. He’s probably mad about that.”
Kerr said he’s not sure what happened to Rodney McGruder going into the post-game Warriors tunnel.
Given the protocols in place, the league will no doubt be looking into that exchange shortly.
McGruder, in his fifth season, played against the Warriors for just six minutes, with eight points and two rebounds in total.
This year, the shooting guard scored 2.8 points per game and hasn’t played more than 16 minutes per night since the season 2018-19.
He now also has the distinction of becoming the first person in almost two years whom Thompson has made look dumb in the NBA.
