Atiku’s Son Is Yet To Test Negative

 

Four weeks after the confirmation of the former vice president of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar son continued testing for Convid-19 positively.

He remained isolated, without symptoms which shocked physicians.

On 19 March, Mr Muhammad Atiku-Abubakar’s who is 31 years, had tested positive to the virus.

Afterwards he was moved to the Abuja teaching hospital university, where most cases of COVID-19 are treated in the Nigerian capital.

Following prescriptions, including antiretroviral and immune-improving vitamins, his condition  remained positive 28 days later.

“He tested positive again yesterday,” an official said.

“We are doing all that is in our power to ensure his recovery, but he can only be released after he has been deemed completely recovered.”

Another official said Mr Atiku-Abubakar’s “unique condition” has puzzled experts at the NCDC.

“We have been saying that this is a unique condition, but we are confident he will recover soon,” the official added.

Even one month after the virus detected, Mr Atiku-Abubakar remained asymptomatic.

Both officials spoke anonymously because, unless otherwise decided by it top management,

the NCDC is not reporting on specific cases.

The head of NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu, dismissed Thursday afternoon’s comments on the situation of Mr Atiku-Abubakar.

Mr. Atiku-Abubakar reported that on Thursday afternoon he was still in the isolation facility

but denied further comments about his test results and treatment.
