The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Lagos Zonal Office, EFCC, have recently arrested five presumed internet fraudsters.
Among them includes popular social media star, Adedamola Adewale, popularly known on Instagram as ‘Adeherself.’
A statement by a spokesman for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that the suspects were arrested during a raid by operatives in different areas of Lagos.
The trio of Israel Onyebuchi, Emmanuel Olayode and Valentine Nwokorie were picked up at Ibeju-Lekki while Adewale, 20, and his accomplice, Lamina Hamzat Ajibola, were arrested in Lekki’s Agungi town.
EFCC said the arrest of Adewale and Ajibola “was sequel to intelligence linking them to online fraudulent activities with two brothers, Lasisi Wasiu Adeleke and Lasisi Riliwan Adeniyi, who are at large.”
Our source revealed that they have been arrested in a duplex of four bedrooms belonging to the two run-away fraudsters.
The statement said during interrogation, “Adewale, a self-acclaimed model, who goes by the username @adeherself on Instagram, confessed to being a picker” in cybercrimes.”
Items seized from suspects included two model cars from Toyota Camry 2009, and a total of N9 million discovered in Adewale ‘s account.
The other suspects arrested were Onyebuchi, Olayode and Nwokorie for their alleged involvement in a relationship scam.
They were arrested after a different investigation, during another search.

EFCC said “Nwokorie was posing as a female American citizen and sending photos as a porn star to defraud his victim while Onyebuchi was engaging in a love scam as well as forging foreign cheques.”
